Thanks to the wonders of technology, you can attend an appointment with me from anywhere across Australia, in the comfort of your own home!

We highly recommend that you set aside 10 minutes prior to your appointment to check your internet connection, camera/audio settings and make yourself comfortable by performing the following steps.

  1. Find a quiet, private space where you are unlikely to be disturbed. Pop your phone on silent and seat yourself somewhere comfortable and free from distractions. Treat your TeleHealth appointment the same way you would an appointment conducted in a physical healthcare clinic. This is your time and it's important to be as present and focused as you can.  It can be helpful to let your family and/or colleagues know in advance that you won't be available during the designated time of your appointment.

Here are some examples of an ideal space to join your TeleHealth appointment:

               * Your home office space, using your work desk.
               * Your living room, provided you will not be interrupted or heard by other household members.
               * A private and sound-proofed meeting room at your place of work
               * Outside in a quiet, shaded location, with plenty of light. Sun is in front of your view, but not hurting your eyes

Here are some examples of spaces that are typically not appropriate for attending your TeleHealth appointment:

               * In a public space where many other people are located.
               * While using public transport or driving between locations.
               * Anywhere that is subject to a lot of background noise, or that is poorly lit
               * Anywhere with poor data/internet connection

  2. You may wish to use a headset/earphones, particularly as our appointment may cover sensitive and/or personal topics relating to your health. Preserving your privacy is our top priority.

  3. Make sure your video is enabled and working: There are so many visual cues your practitioner relies on in order to understand your unique experience of your condition. I may ask you to show me the affected area using your camera (e.g. skin conditions, wounds, nails quality, swollen joint, redness/inflammation, site of trauma), look for signs of a suspected presentation (darkness under eyes, hair quality) and understand deeply how your health is affecting your mental state by paying attention to your body language and facial expressions - Just like I would in a face-to-face consultation.

  4. Choose a space with a plain background and avoid backlight from bright windows. Be aware of what is in the background of your video, and make sure any pictures, materials or objects behind you are appropriate for viewing in a healthcare setting. Your device may also allow you to set a virtual background - you may choose to select a plain natural colour or simply apply a background blur.

  5. Ensure good lighting is on your face so you can be seen clearly. Use a lamp to get the lighting right if needed.

  6. Adjust your camera to be at eye level if possible, especially take note of the angle of your laptop screen if using the built-in camera.

  7. If you experience an interruption to your internet connection, please close out of the Telehealth appointment, restart your device, wait five minutes to see if there is a reconnection, and attempt to connect in again following the meeting link provided in your appointment email. If this does not resolve the issue, give me a call and we will continue to trouble-shoot the issue to the best of our abilities. If need be, we will arrange to reschedule the appointment at no additional cost to you.

  8. In the event that your practitioner experiences technical difficulties, expect to receive a call on your provided contact number (collected when you submitted your initial intake form through our bookings portal). I will endeavour to resolve the issue, or else we will reschedule the appointment at no additional cost to you.
